Minimum Qualifications
  1. Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor degree with Honours in Hindustani Music- Vocal/ Instrumental (Sitar/Sarod/Guitar/Violin/Santoor) or KarnatakMusic – Vocal/Instrumental (Veena/ Violin) or Percussion Music(Tabla/Pakhawaj) course must have passed any one of the following examinationswith 45% or more marks in the aggregate with Music as one of the subjects:

    • Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year Course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education,New Delhi.
    • Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year Course) of the Council for Indian School CertificateExamination, New Delhi
    • Intermediate Examination of any of the Indian Universities/Boards recognised by the University of Delhi.
    • Any other examination recognised as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year Course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education. New Delhi
    • Pre-University Examination (2-year Course) of an Indian University/board recognised by the Universityof Delhi

  1. At least one criteria should be matched
    • Candidates who have not offered Music as one of the subjects at the last qualifying Examinationand desirous of seeking admission to the Bachelor degree with Honours in Hindustani Music- Vocal/Instrumental (Sitar/Sarod/Guitar/Violin/Santoor)KarnatakMusic- Vocal/Instrumental (Veena/ Violin) and Percussion Music(Tabla/Pakhawaj), must have learnt Music for not less than three yearsin a recognised institution.
    • Learnt Music for not less than three years from a well-known teacher/guru. Such candidates willbe required to submit a certificate issued by the institution/teacher/guru, as the case may be tothis effect.
  2. The aggregate 45% marks requirement of any of the examinations mentioned above (clause 1)will be determined on the basis of one language (core/ elective) and three more elective subjectsincluding Music.
  3. . List of institutions for grant of recognitionin connection with the eligibility clause for admission toBachelor with Honours in Hindustani/ Percussion Music/Sangeet Shiromani Diploma Course in Hindustani Music are:
    • Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth (main branches)
    • Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (main branches)
    • Prayag Sangeet Samiti (main branches)
    • Indira Kala Sangeet Vishvavidyalaya (main branches)
    • Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan (main branches)
    • Bhartiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi
    • Sangeet Bharati, New Delhi
    • Triveni, New Delhi

 It is not possible to give such a list for Karnatak Music because there are no institutions as such inDelhi for teaching Karnatak Music. However, a candidate who has learnt Karnatak Music for threeyears from an individual Guru, will be required to furnish a certificate to this effect with the registration/ admission form.

For Physically Handicapped candidate 3% seats are reserved for admission to POST GRADUATE COURSES. If selected on merit in the General category he/she should not be counted in the 3% quota seats meant for PH/VH. Foreign students will be treated as supernumerary.
